Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Cindy Lauper... "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" - Oh those were the days and my DH said to me, that my voice and looks were like hers! Take this as a compliment, right? I thought I looked like Siouxie Sioux!!! Voice, well, what can I say... ;)

This card is made for my sis, because she was a real girly girl. Mum's handbag and shoes, organza scarves, oh you name it! I can't look at this card without smile on my face, this is SO HER! Can't wait to crawl to the post office and trust Royal Mail to deliver this to Finland. (I know I know, she will see this as soon as I click "publish post" cos she's on Facebook and so is my blog. If I just could see her face... lol!

Edit: I drew two thin lines (shiny pink and not so shiny red), and looks better now. IMO and that matters.

One close up of her beautiful specs and handbag handle.

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #10

It was a dark and stormy night in beautiful Yorkshire... Oops, it was Thursday, NOT raining and it was noon. Not sure if this was a bad idea, but too late to cry over spilled milk. Need to be honest with you, I did some tidying up before the pics. Had to :D

Desk was in almost reasonable condition, only about ton of bits and pieces needed removing, but I got there. Hehe, I'm not very organized. I'm sure it's not me! Someone keeps doing this, but not me!!!

My desk. I have found tins and ice cream tubs very very useful. Ohmy, lets see... Everything is in perfect order: Baby oil and stumps and pencils on the left (those two really old Tupperware tubs, bottom one has strong coffee for distressing and top one is for baby oil). Colour Chart pinned on the window sill. Piece of paper showing colours I'm gonna work with on the worktopwhateverthingy, and all the rest useful and important stuff.

State of the cutting plates and my Bow Apparatus ;)

Very Special Die Storage Space:

Finally what I really was doing at the time:

Girl With A Heart or Few

This was fun to colour. I wanted to stick with certain colours, and was messing about with bp and this and that. When I was younger, I dreamed about being "a ginger". That is the reason her hair is what it is and freckles, too.

Pattern for the bp is from Sentimental Sunday's colour chart, also the "picture frame" is made picking the colours from same source. Satin roses are pink, pearl on her "alice band" is pearl white *of course, and those flower thingies on the top corners are green and yellow.

Cardstock - Tesco!
Digi - Sassy Cheryl's
Pencils - Prismacolors
Die Cut - Spellbinders
BP - created using this
Embellishments - old stash (Heh, looks like I have lots of old stash, but that's very true, only now learning and widening my "spirit" to add them almost everywhere)
Specials - NO sentiment, because I just couldn't think anything suitable and nice and good ;)

Challenges, my card fits to

Sassy Cheryl's  Color Me Challenge #10
Do You Stack Up? - #4 Patterned Paper

That's it for now :)
Dorcas, thank you for showing me the path to colouring!!!!!

Pay It Forward

I just joined in this fabulous new game... Or reminds me of letter chains! Chain letters it was :D Oh noooo!!!!! Too late to cancel now.

I solemny promise to send something handmade to the first five people who comment on this post. However, there's a catch. You must post this, offering something handmade to five other people.

The rules state that it must be something handmade or homemade by you and needs to be sent to five other people during 2011. Plenty of time then.

If you'd like to join in the fun, then be the first to post a comment and something handmade or homemade will be coming your way at some point this year.

FUN FUN FUN!!!

I would like to add a twist found from Stacey's blog. If you could state your favorite colors and style in your comment, I could make something suited just for you. If you have a favorite animal or flower, state that too!

P.S. My email where I would love to have your postal addresses, is annemaritta (at) ntlworld (dot) com. Hih, lets see what happens ;)

Home Is Where The Heart Is

I can't resist Sassy Cheryl's images. They all are so delicious and make you feel good. Cute lad, isn't he!  Sentiment is removable and to be honest with you, it sort of DOESN'T fit. I tried to keep this quite simple but then again, tried also add something. Hehe, paradox?

Cardstock - old stash
Digi - Sassy Cheryl's
Pencils - Prismacolors
Die Cut - Nestabilities
BP - old stash
Sentiment - freebie from *sorry, I can't remember!

P.S. He really looks pale! It was Seashell Pink #1093, definitely NOT good with brown base. Need to remember that ;)

Challenges, my card fits to, are:

Lets see, if I can spot one or two ;)

The Meaning of Pink Roses

Pink Roses:

Pink roses are commonly presented as gifts and lovingly grown by gardeners alike. Pink roses can mean quite a variety of things from “thank you for your assistance” to “I’m thinking of you.” Pink roses like yellow are the perfect gift for just about anyone. You can choose darker pink for someone with a wild outgoing personality and pale pink for a gift recipient who is shy or calm and collected. - Charity Armstrong

paper and cardstock - bought from Samuel Taylors
satin ribbon - old stash
image - Digi Doodle's
die cuts - Nestabilities
banner - ebay
butterfly and flowers - craft essentials

Edit: As Stacey said (her comment) I usually don't do pink. Pink is not my thing at all, i.e. I'm not familiar with it. But then again... it feels darn good to think "why not" ;)

The challenges this fits are

Do You Stack Up? - Challenge #3 pink

2 Sisters  - flowers
Pile It On - Anything Goes

Just for fun and my fingers were itching

This is just experimental. Flowers, in my opinion, are very difficult to colour, but well...  "The higher you climb, the farther you fall." BUT wouldn't it be daft just to stay where you were in your safe zone? How about if you didn't have such a thing?

Digi - Digi Doodles
Sentiment - Raindrop Echo Designs - Dorcas' Sentiments
Backing Paper  - mine
Butterflies, ribbon and heart - old stash (didn't even know I have PINK butterflies!!!)
Colours - Prismacolors
Die cut - Nestabilities and Fiskars

Oops, couple of challenges ;)

Music is the food of Love

Yay!
This digi is the very first Sassy Cheryl's I've coloured, because when I saw the digi, I thought the Snowman has something special. My own mood, feeling a bit blue, made me colour his eyes to show the same emotion. I hope.

There he is, playing his violin. Although it is snowing quite heavily, music keeps him warm as his love for missus Snowman... awwwwwww

Digi is Sassy Cheryl's
BP is my digital design
Embossed using Fiskars plate
Roses old stash
Sentiment is by William Shakespeare
Hearts made by using punch
Little gems old stash (they ARE pink, not bluish)
Die cut is Nellie's Multiframe
Pencils Prismacolor

There are couple of challenges I would like to add this card:
Cooking it up with Katie - #44 Embossing and pink for someone you love
Sentimental Sundays - #38 SENTIMENT and Winter
Sassy Cheryl's Challenge  #45 Let it Snow (Thanks, Dorcas)

This is my first ever colouring on kraft.

Marching on Together

Ok, I love football, and I mean real football, not that game over the pond where they are running holding the ball in their arms.

That's it. Everyone who follows football, knows what this card is about ;)

Again, name for the card is from a famous song:
"Leeds! Leeds! Leeds! (commonly known as Marching On Together) is the name of the anthem of Leeds United A.F.C. Unlike many football songs that are just new words set to existing music, Leeds! Leeds! Leeds! is an original composition by Les Reed and Barry Mason. The song first appeared in 1972 as the B-side of the record released by Leeds United to coincide with the team reaching the 1972 FA Cup Final, the A-side being titled "Leeds United". The vocals on the original recording were sung by the then-members of the Leeds United team and their supporters. - from wikipedia and my heart.)

Cardstock - white square from stash
Clips - search engineer
Ribbons - old stash
Medal - Golden cardstock through Big Shot trying to emboss the medal from 1972 from Esso petrol station :)
Proper coffee stains

This is made for
Do You Stack Up? - Challenge #2, Distress it
One Stop Craft Challenge Week 114 *Card for a Male

Thank you!!!

Argh! For some reason I'm not totally happy with this! Grrr... I was so excited to make this, but split my coffee and this looks "not so tribute".

Strawberry Fields Forever

Ok, again I've named my card in courtesy of a famous song. The reason? Hehe, no reason, but when my path crossed with this challenge, all came to my mind was some funky hippie time.

The idea of this card is behind the song.
(Lennon: We always had fun at Strawberry Fields. So that's where I got the name. But I used it as an image. Strawberry Fields forever.)

Here it is.

This time I leave only one previous pic of this, just to show how light effects the quality of the colours. ( Again, but unfortunately light plays tricks, backing colour of the strawberries is following the theme using same rainbow method. It looks plain orange, and it is not, but hey, there is always a possibility me to take better pic in the daylight.)

Here's the thing: Gorgeous strawberry digi is from Digi Doodle Shop, I just swapped the colour, needed white.

See? I have figured how buttons are cute addition!!!

I coloured some paper under the punched line and corner. It's rainbow style coloured, starting from teal and then tangerine, then melon and ending with kiwi. "strawberry fields forever" is printed 4 times on the digi. Believe or not, I did it on purpose :)

And finally

Colours I tried to follow:
Punch - Fiskars
Die Cut - Nestabilities scallop circle
Bow - old stash
Buttons - collection in a jar.
Phrase - The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever
Stamp - Digi Doodle
Gems - old stash

This will fit:

Colour Q  Challenge #67 ()
Meljen's Designs  Square Card
Phindy's Place Challenge #38 Valentines or for a loved one

Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep!

Chirpy chirpy!

Paper design and colours are from my very own keyboard and brain (if I was brave I would call it "creativity"). I couldn't find suitable card stock from my stash so I thought better to make my own. Colours are to match Color Throwdown challenge .

Do you want to know a secret? La la laa...

Younger son's friend, a girl, came to ours today and of course when I saw Sassy Cheryl's new image, I just had to colour it.

Edit #1: Forgot to mention, we were having LOTS of garlic with our dinner (some garlic here and some garlic there) so I'm sure my son was not so much up for kissing ;)

I might need to take another set of pictures in a daylight, it's about midnight here, but I couldn't wait till morning to update my blog :)

Edit #2: Here are couple of new daylight pics of the project. So called originals are on below of each pic:

Edit #3: Forgot the watermarks.

 How this was made:

Wings of Music

Distressing:
1. Cause (someone) anxiety, sorrow, or pain
2. Take a perfectly good piece of card or paper and rip the edges to make them look like you and your dog had a tug of war over it. You can go over the edges with ink pad or pen...usually a brown shade, so it looks like the dog won and buried it in the garden.

I chose to follow my friend's ( Lin ) definition, that is definition 2.

Fabulous image is from Clearly Vintage and sentiment was found using search engineer ;) It was anonymous. Vellum was used as a lace photo frame. It's a little bit funny how rarely you actually use vellum, although it's wonderful material!

Music sheet is from Edvard's Grieg's Peer Gynt, Morning Mood. Beautiful, so beautiful piece of music.  Then I stood there, staring at the paper and thought, this really doesn't look old, does it? It was composed between 1874-76, but it wasn't enough ;)

Few drops of strong coffee and some tissue paper, and here we can see the result of it. Sorted. Then pieces just came together and true, I had lots of fun. I was aiming for peaceful Victorian era colours and a bit of romance.

Sentiment says:
Between us there are many miles
But, separately, we can share our smiles
Although not physically there, it’s true
On the wings of music
my heart has travelled to be with you

I hope my new creation ;) fits to these challenges.

Sentimental Sundays  #37 Things with Wings (wings of music?)

Button Up!

It's been winter here in my beautiful Yorkshire and coats and jackets definitely have been buttoned up :)

Card made yesterday/today reminds me of young me ;) A bit of boyish (I was a proper tomboy), long plaits and always upto something. Our village post office lady called me Andrew, not Annemaritta. Hah! Sweet memories. One instance I claimed up to the tree and got my friend to do it too, she fell, broke her arm and my parents and her parents were angry at me! Eh? Me? Hih, no hard feelings, if they read this.

Card... I saw this digital stamp when visiting Meljen's Designs and it was perfect. Coloring is not, but girl has to re-start from somewhere, right? Colours are something different, but surprise, I like them.

Flowers on the digi are replaced with small paper roses.

Ant and I

January 2011, full of challenges and full on joy!

I'm back!

It has been weird not to post here for months! Life's been busy and messy, very usual and normal in this household. To be honest, I've actually done some work! I have had few business cards and leaflet orders, which includes designing of course, which I'm very pleased. Feedback as well has been excellent. Awww... I love this stuff.

We do not have PS 3, neither Bluray Player, but I have new card making stuff. (Stuff is my favourite word.) There is this store in Leeds, I've been praising about, this is their blog: Samuel Taylors . Personal, warm, friendly and professional customer service and HUGE range of products. I.e. my favourite place to be. And they know it. :D

This "Thank you" card is my first step back to blogging with crafting. Or crafting with blogging ;)
Metal blue card stock is from a stock I bought ages ago from somewhere
satin ribbon is cream color and been in my posession for months
decoupage is... can't remember where from
frame / die cut / thank you banner is Nellie's Multiframe (Samuel Taylors sell them)
sentiment is Anita's
vellum bird is Paper Pizazz
that thingy with gold/white "pearls" is from discount store

PS. Good idea to clean your "I might need this piece of card" is to turn it to die cut. I've loads now!

Nice to take a part to:

Phindy's Place - Challenge #36 - Give Thanks With Scraps  (this and that from old stock)
Our Creative Corner - A Thank You Recipe Challenge (blue, cream, metal, vellum)
I Did it Creation Challenge - Favorite Technique (decoupage)
Fab 'n' Funky Challenges - Anything Goes (just to get back on track)
C.R.A.F.T. - Thank you
Cute Card Thursday - Thank you
Allsorts - Thank you
