Matter of opinion

My wonderful relatives sent me some money, not a fortune, but for me at this moment of life it actually feels so. It was a wonderful surprise and I've been thinking of buying something wonderful to my wonderful self. ;)

Of course I told my son about this and as much as he understand how I love coloring, cardmaking and how it effects me on very positive (wonderful?!?) way, I thought he would be an excellent advisor ;)

Me: Alex (my son), I've been thinking and sort of would love to buy "this" or "that".

Alex: Nah, mum, rather you should get PlaySation 3!!!

Hmm... yes, surely PlayStation 3 is on top of every middle age woman's "must have" list. Naturally. :D

Update, Wednesday 29 December

Oh, I love this: Drove to Samuel Taylor's "just to get stumps". Remembered those stumps as well!!!

Spent a small fortune on Sassy Cheryl's website... I love her designs.

18th November 2010

Just a quick one to say, I miss you all. Have been trying to sort some paperwork and all that kind of boring stuff. Fingers are itching to get back to coloring and it looks weird seeing my desk not full of cardcrafting stuff.

Been designing couple of business cards. It has been great. Made my sis a selection of cards, she liked them and it was good.

Being carless i.e. without a car is driving me mad, instead of that I would love driving somewhere else! :D Well, couple of weeks and then I should get back on the traffic. Time goes slowly for those who wait. It doesn't matter, cos it is ust perfectly in time to get to Assembly 11th and 12th December. <3

Although I have been quiet, I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

How to make a perfect (hehe) bow :)

My Achilles heel is my bows. Not anymore, now I love making them and it is soooooo easy. Once I tried styrox cup upside down, two pens sticking out from the bottom of the cup like antennas  and oh dear, I tried to make a bow, but for some reason it was never nice. Not trying to tie a bow or the result either :) It wasn't good because the gap of the pens. Cardboard works perrrrrfectly :)

I'm one of these persons who doesn't like to go and pay because very often there is an easy way to do it / solve the problem. Eveyone has some cardboard at home, I have loads. Ok, piece of cardboard and then like the pictures show, I made "trousers", piece of cardboard, measuring one leg 3 cm then ½cm gap and another 3cm wide leg. That is the tool. Notice that the longer the legs are, the easier it is to tie a bow.

Width of the leg is the width of the "loop". Because this is not costing anything, you can cut as many and as wide "trousers" you like. Hahaa... This is clever, easy, fun and cheap.

If I don't glue it immediately onto the card, I put a clip to flat it out. If I make a card I will put some glue also in the bow and then I use the clip anyway :D It will stick onto the card and also the tie won't open or spread.

This guide *so to speak was done with no proper preparations, but I will make another one. I might. Not sure. I could thou...

VIDEO AS WELL :D Oh yeah. Of course you spotted my new Fiskars scissors <3

Edit 15th February 2011
Great!!! I started making bows this way, too, but I usually use a fork :-) you can also make tiny bows then...

New Baby Girl

My neighbours have a brand new addition to their family. Baby girl. Congratulations!

Bow Apparatus :)

I like nice bows. I.e. I don't like the bows I've managed so far. I tried and made all sort of experimental instruments :D  One was a styrox cup upside down and two sticks. Nope, didn't work.

This works! Again all you need is piece of cardboard (the stronger, the better) and pair of scissors.

1. Actually those look like trousers. With belt :D

2. Backside

3. Front

4. THE Bow :)

Now I have tiny apparatus and not so tiny and a bit bigger and big and and and... :)

From Yorkshire With Love

I can make a bow! Or heheh, can I?

If you just saw my invention, you would laugh your head off! I call it a bow apparatus :P

Yep. Again autumn colours.

I love this:

It had been raining for days and days, and a terrible flood had come over the land. The waters rose so high that one man was forced to climb onto the roof of his house.

As the waters rose higher and higher, a man in a rowboat appeared, and told him to get in. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in God; He will save me." So the man in the rowboat went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and suddenly a speedboat appeared. "Climb in!" shouted a man in the boat. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in God; God will save me." So the man in the speedboat went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters continued to rise. A helicopter appeared and over the loudspeaker, the pilot announced he would lower a rope to the man on the roof. "No," replied the man on the roof. "I have faith in God; God will save me." So the helicopter went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and eventually they rose so high that the man on the roof was washed away, and alas, the poor man drowned.

Upon arriving in heaven,  I don't believe such a kind of things but necessary for the joke) the man marched straight over to God. "Heavenly Father," he said, "I had faith in you, I prayed to you to save me, and yet you did nothing. Why?" God gave him a puzzled look, and replied "I sent you a row boat, a speed boat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?"

---

I'm like that man, but looks like I had my wake up call with the helicopter :D Sometimes it surprises you how blind or stubborn you actually can be.

Rainbow means hope for the future?

To cut a long story short: I couldn't sleep, and wanted to make a card to send to my Auntie Kati.

Kati is my mum's younger sister and she has sort of always been my rescue. When I was a kid and horrible teenager, Kati was the one, who offered me place to sleep and supported me in many ways.
If I said "I can't do this, I don't know how", she looked at me and said, "Anne, yes you can, trust youself".

Again last night it was Kati, who got me through a very difficult thing. She knows what I mean.

Card just came out like that, just like that. No way! Well, sort of...
I wanted to paint something and before long the flower pot was there.

There are few Rainbow Challenges now, and I realized the flower pot already had red, orange, yellow, green, violet and blue. It was very easy to continue with the theme. Sky blue backing paper and indigo (?) metallic border.

Card absolutely needed that love letter :)
BUT we do not know what it says there. ;)

I have no idea what those paints are,
some tiny little pots and give great metallic shine.
Maybe oil paint.  (How would I know, I just work here LOL)

Cardstock again from Tesco (I love those prices)
Digistamp - Vase of Roses by Delicious Doodles

Tomatoes, Tomatos, or... Autumn, Fall

Autumn is the most colourful season. Those colours are amazing.
Spring is all full of different shades of green,
but autumn (which I very much dislike as a season)
is green, brown, red, yellow, wonderful warm colours.

Ok, it was the prologue. Now the card insprided by autumn.

This "studio" is really good for cards. No "noisy" background and it is easy to change the wallpapers for different colour cards.

I was aiming for warm autumn feeling.

Curly organza ribbon =)

Thick golden handmade sheet.

Decoupage close up.

How the card was made:

Decoupage -  Le Suh (nice 9 layers and octagon, easy to cut with knife or scissors)
Golden paper - it's handmade, don't know the origin, but it is nice
Backing Paper - Internet - free (yes, legally free)
